President Trump’s Second UK State Visit to Feature Lavish Royal Welcome

Date:

Former President Donald Trump is set to make a highly ceremonial return to the United Kingdom next week, with the British royal family preparing a grand state visit filled with traditional pageantry, The Post has confirmed.

Taking place from September 16 to 18, this will be Trump’s second official state visit to the UK, and it promises to be even more elaborate than his first in June 2019. Due to ongoing renovations at Buckingham Palace—expected to be completed by 2027—the centerpiece of the visit will shift to Windsor Castle.

Upon arrival, President Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump will be greeted by the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom before being escorted to Windsor Castle, where they will meet Prince William and Princess Catherine. The royal couple will then accompany them to meet King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, the Trumps will be officially welcomed on the morning of Wednesday, September 17, with a royal salute fired from the East Lawn of Windsor Castle and simultaneously at the Tower of London.

The royal family is also planning a carriage procession through the Windsor estate, highlighting the ceremonial nature of the visit. This is a notable enhancement from Trump’s previous state visit and reflects the importance of the occasion.

One significant change this time around is the increased role of Princess Catherine, who at 43 years old is expected to undertake a joint engagement with the former First Lady, marking a more visible diplomatic role for the Princess of Wales during the visit.

Following the formal welcome, President Trump will join King Charles and Queen Camilla for lunch in the State Dining Room at Windsor Castle.

In the afternoon, Trump is scheduled to lay a private wreath at the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II in St George’s Chapel, paying his respects to the late monarch. He and Mrs. Trump will then be given a brief tour of the chapel, including a special musical performance by the chapel choir.

The day will conclude with a lavish state banquet on Wednesday evening, to be attended by over 150 guests, including members of the royal family, UK and U.S. politicians, and prominent public figures with ties to both nations.

The upcoming visit underscores the ongoing diplomatic significance of the U.S.-UK relationship, with the royal family going to great lengths to provide a warm and ceremonious welcome for the former president.
