DC Man Charged with Felony After Throwing Sandwich at Federal Agent

Date:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A D.C. man is facing felony assault charges after allegedly throwing a Subway sandwich at a federal agent in an incident earlier this week.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 37-year-old Sean Charles Dunn was arrested after he reportedly shouted at a group of federal officers—calling them “fascists”—before striking a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent in the chest with a deli sandwich.

The incident occurred Sunday night and was captured on video. Dunn later admitted to the act, telling a D.C. police officer, “I did it. I threw a sandwich,” according to the criminal complaint.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced the charges Wednesday, emphasizing the seriousness of the offense. “The police are not out there to get pushed around or beat up,” Pirro said. “He thought it was funny. Well, he doesn’t think it’s funny today because we charged him with a felony: assault on a police officer.”

Dunn could not be reached for comment.

The confrontation took place amid increased federal presence in the city. President Trump deployed federal officers to assist local law enforcement on August 7 and has since asserted federal control over the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, including activation of the National Guard.
