Dhaka — Bangladesh’s interim government, led by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, has pledged to conduct the most credible and peaceful general elections in the country’s history, scheduled for April next year.
Speaking on behalf of the administration, Yunus’ aide, Alam, emphasized that the government has implemented comprehensive measures to ensure the upcoming polls are free, fair, and transparent. “The upcoming national election will be the most credible and peaceful one in the country’s history,” Alam stated confidently.
He highlighted that the interim government’s top priority is to restore democratic order following the July 2024 mass uprising that led to the ousting of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government. “The people rose to demand democracy, and this government is determined to deliver it,” he added.
Officials say preparations are underway to ensure a festive and secure environment for voting, with international observers expected to be invited to witness the process.
The interim government’s commitment comes at a critical juncture for Bangladesh’s political future, with the global community closely monitoring developments ahead of the 2025 polls.
