Melania Trump Urges End to Ukraine War in Personal Letter to Putin Delivered by President Trump

Date:

Former First Lady Melania Trump has made a rare public appeal for peace, writing a heartfelt letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin that was hand-delivered by former President Donald Trump during a high-level summit in Alaska aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

The letter, described as a “peace message,” focused on the humanitarian toll of the ongoing conflict—particularly its devastating impact on children. According to Fox News, Putin read the letter immediately in front of both American and Russian delegations at the start of the talks.

“Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center,” Melania Trump wrote. “They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger.”

In the emotional appeal, the former First Lady urged Putin to consider the broader human cost of the war. “As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope. As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few,” she wrote. “Mr. Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter. In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone—you serve humanity itself.”

The letter was presented just before the summit began, marking the first in-person meeting between the U.S. and Russian heads of state since June 2021. Though the war in Ukraine began just eight months after that last meeting, both sides have maintained intermittent communication, particularly over the past few months as Trump has intensified efforts to mediate a cease-fire.

Speaking after the summit, Trump called the talks “extremely productive,” though he acknowledged that no formal agreement had yet been reached. Negotiations are expected to continue.
